Bill Balaskas

 
Kalfayan Galleries are pleased to announce that Bill Balaskas has been nominated in the Emerging Artist category of the 2012 ALICE Awards. He is one of the four finalists for this award that is presented to artists up to 35 years of age for their innovations in contemporary art.
ALICE Awards (Artistic Landmarks in Contemporary Experience) is an initiative organized by the Global Board of Contemporary Art, which received more than 1,000 proposals for nominations from over 30 countries, for 2012. The selectors of the nominees and judges of the awards include: curator and director of the Stockholm Moderna Museet Daniel Birnbaum, curator and director of the Ècole nationale supérieure dea beaux-arts Nicolas Bourriaud, Chinese born Hou Hanru curator and director Director of Exhibitions and Public Programs and the Chair of the Exhibitions and Museum Studies program at the San Francisco Art Institute, director of Museu d¢Art Contemporani de Barcelona Bartommeu Marí, director of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney Elizabeth McGregor, Sao Paulo based independent curator and critic Adriano Pedrosa, Indian art collective Raqs Media Collective, writer and curator Denys Zacharopoulos (Greece), amongst others.
 
The decision of the Committee will be announced on June 1, 2012.  Members of the public can vote for the People¢s Voice Award on ALICE Awards website until May 27, 2012.
