CV

Yiannis Hadjiaslanis, born in Athens in 1974, is a Greek photographer. His interest in the Middle East was triggered by his first visit to Alexandria, Egypt in 2006. His residency in Cairo in 2008 was followed by a residency in Manama in 2009, where in both cities he conducted a series of workshops with local artists. He currently lives and works in Athens and is represented by Kalfayan Galleries, Athens – Thessaloniki.

He predominantly works with landscapes and architecture, documenting the perpetuations of memory, the present and futures of lived environments, and their significance for those who create, interact and evolve with them.

Much of his work engages with questions surrounding the interpretation of the real and the perceived, bridging social documentary and art.
